Way out West Equine Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN#: 87-2308242) dedicated to helping horses in need and giving back to our equine community. Way out West was started, unknowingly, when Olivia Blanck and Lauren Mitchell decided to rescue a horse off of a photo from a kill pen in September of 2020. “Billy” was a scared and shy horse that they worked with for over a year before finding him the perfect home.
This started the idea to continue to help these horses that are in need and out of time. Way Out West was created and became official in August of 2021.
Since then Way out West, with generous donations from our community, has been able to rescue 5 horses from slaughter and are eager to save more.
Our Purpose/Philosophy
Dedicated to bringing awareness to the side of the equestrian community that we want to change; slaughter, abuse or horses that have been used and thrown away. Educating our community on auctions and slaughterhouses. Way out West is a sanctuary where we rehabilitate these horses both physically and mentally. When our horses are ready for placement we are diligent about finding them a suitable job and loving, long term home. Remembering our why.
